The CPR and LVR course is essential if you are conducting live work or working with live switchboards. The course covers the performance of rescue procedures from a live low-voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace.
It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
Completing the course will provide an individual with the skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the LV panel rescue procedures and to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a casualty in a range of situations. It consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be assessed as competent in providing CPR in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and rescue procedures from an LV apparatus.
Low-voltage rescue comprises responsive operations that involve saving lives or preventing injury during an incident or dangerous situation.

Online Pre-Course
The online assessment consits of multiple-choice questions and videos. This must be completed prior to your training class. We recommend you use a large screen, as mobile phones make it difficult to see the volume of content. The estimate time for your online work is approximately 1 hour or more, depending on you.
Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Assessment Activities
Performance tasks and scenarios:
- Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Inspection and placement of rescue equipment and performing a rescue
- Low voltage panel rescue
Online Theory – Videos and questions, approximately 1 hr depending on you.
Certificates are issued the same day during business hours, providing 100% of the course components have been completed,
*Note, it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the floor. Please notify us prior to the course if you are unable to kneel on the floor.
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
The online work must be completed before your practical training.
Accreditation/UNITS DELIVERED
Participants are required to attend 100% of this Low Voltage Rescue & CPR training and successfully complete online assessments prior to the practical course. The online task will be available when you enrol. You can opt to do the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid in the same course set, which will give you the additional HLTAID010 and HLTAID011.

Validity
The LVR component of this training covers the skills and knowledge required for a person to be able to carry out a risk assessment of an electrically hazardous situation and perform low voltage rescue procedures without hazard to themselves or others. LV Rescue and CPR training has a 12-month validity.
